Senate 18 includes all of Granville County and northern Wake County. It’s by far the largest and most thinly populated of any of the six NC Senate districts wholly or partially in Wake County and, consequently, if you’re a nature lover, arguably the most beautiful!
Demographically and politically, Senate 18 closely reflects the state as a whole:
It is also one of only three competitive NCGA districts out of 19 wholly or partially in Wake County. In 2024, Democrat Terence Everitt won by only 128 votes out of over 119 thousand cast. Altogether, the 2024 candidates spent $6.5 million in pursuit of victory—and that doesn’t count the money spent by independent PACs which was also considerable.
So if you live in Senate 18, in even-numbered years you can pretty much count on enough political postcards and door hangers to significantly contribute to filling up your recycling bin.
